Fairtrade fortnight keeps on giving…

Week one of Fairtrade fortnight, DONE.

Lots of events and Fairtrade a’happenings have a’happened. Here are some of our personal highlights of the last few days.

Mairangi Bay School

After our visit, and Chris’ magnificent banana suit, the kids at Mairangi Bay were keen to eat some of the good stuff. So they had a bit of a sale last Friday. Sold out in 5 mins too! Good stuff Mairangi Bay.

GPP Wellington Scavenger Hunt

Meanwhile, down in Wellington the Global Poverty Project team ran a bit of a scavenger hunt around the city last Saturday. Challenges included peeling a banana without your hands and finding Whittakers chocolate blocks buried in the sand. With prizes up for grabs the competition was fierce, but there could only be one winning team, and in the end Flora & Jessica were victorious. They took out the big one.

A year’s supply of All Good bananas and a T-shirt. Mmmmh, nice one ladies.

Oxfam coffee break

There are lots of Fairtrade Oxfam coffee breaks going on up and down the county, but this morning’s had to be the best so far. A Fairtrade breakfast at the Great Ponsonby arthotel whipped up by the hotel team including Kirsten Morrell. Have to say the pancakes were divine as you can tell from the eager way everyone was tucking in.
