Happy Birthday Ricky the Monkey!
08 April 2010 | Posted by simon in All Good News, General

Ricky the Monkey tucked into some bananas for his birthday yesterday. According to stuff.co.nz, bananas were top of the gift list when Ricky, Nelson’s special-needs capuchin monkey, celebrated his 17th birthday at the Natureland Zoo.
We just loved this cute pic of the Rickmeister! We hear he wanted Fairtrade bananas but we’re not in Nelson yet. We’re working on it for our little man down there. Maybe there will be a Fairtrade feast for his big 18th?

Banana Bounty from 8 April!
31 March 2010 | Posted by simon in All Good News, General
The news making us smile this week is that from next week (8 April), we’ll be getting in a regular supply of bananas each week. This is great news because our first few containers were only coming every 10 days so it meant you couldn’t always find them in store. Now, it’ll be seamless!
It also means we can help get them out to one and all. We know a lot of you have already been asking your local stores and produce managers for All Good Bananas and this really helps. What you can do:
- Buy them!!
- Have a chat to your local New World, Pak’nSave or Four Square produce manager and ask them to stock All Good Fairtrade bananas (if you live north of Taupo).
- Email or call: Foodstuffs and Progressive - customerinfo@progressive.co.nz - direct to ask them to stock Fairtrade bananas. They would love to hear from you

The story of the Ecuadorian truck driver, a party and a boat…
29 March 2010 | Posted by simon in All Good News, General
There was a funny story. It involved an Ecuadorian truck driver who was charged with handling some very special cargo… a party… and a boat. After collecting a container of scrumptious All Good Fairtrade bananas from the good guys at El Guabo, our friend started on his journey. His mission: to get the ‘nanas safely to a big ship that would transport them across the Pacific Ocean to the little land of the long white cloud. Unfortunately the lure of a few bevies with his mates was too much to resist and a party ensued…(Ecuadorians are known for their parties) this turned into a bit of a bender and lo and behold…he literally missed the boat.*
What we’re trying to say is… there has been a bit of delay with our latest container of bananas and it means that there will be a bit of a break in supply. After this weekend, we won’t have bananas in stores for about 10 days. Bear with us though as from 8 April we’ll be back in full force!
*This is a true story but some details may have been embellished.

2.7million banana muffins later…
29 March 2010 | Posted by simon in All Good News, General
A whopping 45,000 bunches of All Good Bananas have now made their way into Kiwi fruit bowls. We reckon that would make about 225,000 banana cakes and about 2.7 million banana muffins (probably mini ones). Aside from all the enjoyment we get from eating bananas, it means that we’re nearly half way to meeting our target of selling 100,000 bunches of Fairtrade bananas by the beginning of Fairtrade Fortnight, 1 May. If we do, All Good Fairtrade Bananas will be a permanent feature in NZ!

Become a Fairtrade banana revolutionary!
12 March 2010 | Posted by simon in All Good News, General
We need your help in our crusade to make Fairtrade bananas available to everyone in New Zealand!
Get your local store to stock Fairtrade bananas and your family and friends to pledge to buy a bunch a week. You’ll be making the world of difference to the lives of banana growers and their children in El Guabo in Ecuador, guaranteeing they get a fair deal for their bananas, a fair say in their community, an education and a decent standard of living.
We’re looking for passionate volunteers who believe in Fairtrade and want to be banana revolutionaries around the North Island.

Your mission:
- To champion the cause of Fairtrade bananas in your community;
- To become best friends with the produce manager in your local store –Pak’nSave, New World or Four Square;
- To get Kiwis to switch to Fairtrade bananas for their own good as well as the growers;
- To make sure Fairtrade bananas are deliciously presented in their natural habitat (at your local supermarket); and
- To love and care for Fairtrade bananas in your community like your life depends on it. Because, even though your life may not depend on it, someone else’s does.
This vitally important role will help us to ensure Fairtrade bananas are available to every Kiwi who believes in a better world.
In return:
You’ll receive a special All Good Bananas revolutionary kit – t-shirt, free bananas, fascinating reading material about just how good Fairtrade bananas are and other goodies to help you on your revolutionary path.
If you’re up for the challenge… email us at info@allgoodorganics.co.nz with banana revolutionary in the subject heading and your name, location and contact details.
Walking to work
11 March 2010 | Posted by simon in All Good News, General
We were delighted to be on board with the Walk to Work day on March 10 in Takapuna and K’Rd handing out All Good Bananas to lots of happy walkers. The events were organised by Living Streets Aotearoa, a very cool group of people who promote walking-friendly communities. It was great to see so many keen walkers (and a few sneaky cyclists who were keen on the free breakie too)!
All Good at EcoDay 2010
10 March 2010 | Posted by simon in All Good News, General
Tonnes of people descended on Olympic Park in Waitakere City on Sunday 28 February for the EcoDay 2010, a celebration of all things green and sustainable, run by the EcoMatters Environment Trust. We were really chuffed to be part of it.
We had a flurry of people visiting our stand throughout the day… maybe because of the lure of free bananas. Chris was on hand to chat to people and Manukau City Mayor Len Brown popped in for a taste test too. By the end of the day there were lots of banana skins in the food scrap bin for the EcoTrust’s worm farms too. Worms love banana skins!
Now selling in Wellington
03 March 2010 | Posted by simon in Uncategorized
Wellingtonians can now get some All Goodness from Moore Wilson and New World Wellington City. The capital is actually one of NZ’s first Fairtrade cities so we’re hoping All Good Bananas will go down a treat! If you’re from Wellies, go down to a store this weekend and pick some up and please tell everyone you know all about them. Find a banana near you…
